The Lansing Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee has announced that three athletes and one team will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on January 26th, 2008.  Typically the induction takes place at the high school gymnasium between the Junior Varsity and Varsity Basketball games.  That is the plan again this year as the Bobcats will face off in the two games against Dryden.

This year two athletes from the class of 1993, Amy Childers (swimming, basketball, track) and Dennis Eade (football, track & field, wrestling) will be inducted along with class of 1966 graduate Kevin Kessler (football, track & field).  The 1976-77 Boys Basketball Team will join those athletes in being honored.

It is very hard to pick top sports events because all our Lansing athletes are so successful all the time.  But this year John Duthe and Kyle Dake earned top honors as they became the State Champions in Golf and Wrestling, respectively.  Kali Dean made it to State by swimming to the lead in the 50 Yard Freestyle, and 100 Yard Freestyle.  Meanwhile the Ithaca Shooting Stars girls hockey team continues to have succcess on the ice.

Another sports thrill this year was watching the Small Fry Football teams at Schoellkopf Field in September, playing two Sunday morning games that pitted Lansing's Small Fry football teams against the South Senaca Falcons.

The Lansing Varsity coaches deserve special recognition for sending weekly report to the Star.  They not only lead Lansing to victory time after time, but have been instrumental in the Star keeping Lansing up to date on their teams' progress.  We also have to thank Mary Grainger for her hockey reports, and our newest contributor Joyce Jones for her outstanding reporting on Varsity Boys Swimming.

Starting out slow with Dan Baldini & Phil Kulis struggling new comer Troy Hradisky (8th grader 182-508) along with senior Ricky Newton scored to keep us in the match.

When the night was over there wasn't any big games as Lansing won the first two games by 28 & 5 pins and total wood by only six pins, which just goes to show you how every spare adds up. Lansing Boys 3, END 1.
