During Feb. 17-18, the three Ithaca Shooting Stars girls hockey teams that will be playing in Central Sectionals next weekend were preparing by playing strong competition. The 14U team defeated the Troy Albany Ice Cats 4-1 and tied the Rome Grizzlies 3-3. The 16Us were edged by the North Country Ice Storm Tier 1 team 2-0 and 2-1 but beat the Cornell Women’s Club team 4-1. Ithaca’s 19Us defeated the Pocono Pirates 19Us 3-1.

Lucy Marshall lead the scoring for the Ithaca 14Us with two goals against Troy and one goal and one assist against Rome. Carrie Wilder had one goal and two assists while Marissa Ramos scored once in each game. Meredith Kirk, Olivia Ramos, Jackie Cornell, Lauren Herrick, and Hannah Golay also added helpers. Ali Pace tended goal with 24 saves vs. Troy and 33 vs. Rome.

Emma Marshall scored the Ithaca 16Us only goal against the North Country Ice Storm assisted by Janesa Cornish and Lauren Cole. Annabelle Jones and Sarah Eisenhut each made 20 saves as they split goaltending duties in the doubleheader. The next day they also divided the work in the win over the Cornell club team that features several former Shooting Stars. Whitney Colbert lead the scoring in the 4-1 win with two goals and two assists. Emily Eisenhut and Kaitlin Maclean also scored goals. Assists were awarded to Robin Worsell, Colleen Dillon, Erin Grainger and Cornish.

Ithaca’s 19Us defeated the visiting Pocono Pirates with Chelsea Meyer making 14 saves. Diane Ralyea scored two goals and Samantha Craig one. Haley Gross assisted on the first Ralyea goal.

The 14Us and 19Us will be in Clinton Feb. 24-25 for the Central Sectional Tier 2 Girls Hockey tournament at their age levels. The 16Us will play a home and home series with the Camillus Cougars 16Us to determine their seeding for the 16U Tier 2 State Tournament.
