The Ithaca Shooting Stars girls hockey teams were all active Feb. 24-25 including three teams competing with other Central Section teams for the opportunity to advance to their age level state tournaments.

Ithaca 16Us defeated the Camillus Cougars 16Us twice by 4-0 margins to win the Central Section Championship and advance to the NYSAHA (New York State Amateur Hockey Association) 16U Tier 2 Tournament in Clinton, March 9-11. Sarah Eisenhut and Annabelle Jones shared goaltending duties for the two shutout wins. In the two games, Janesa Cornish scored three goals. Erin Grainger scored one goal and had three assists. Emma Marshall scored one as well as two assists. Ariana Cornish, Alex Colbert and Katie Long scored single goals. Lauren Cole made two assists and Robin Worsell one.

The 19U and 14U Shooting Stars contended well against strong competition but will not advance to their respective state tournaments. The Ithaca 19Us were defeated by the Mohawk Valley Herricanes 3-1. Chelsea Meyer stopped 36 shots in the loss. Diane Ralyea scored unassisted. Against Camillus Cougars 19Us Meyer made 25 saves. Samantha Craig scored from an assist by Kendall Brug.  The Shooting Stars finished 4-1, defeating Camillus.

The 14Us went 1-1-1. They tied the Rome Grizzlies 4-4. Lucy Marshall scored twice; Melissa Ash and Carrie Wilder each made one goal. Ali Pace had 42 saves in goal. The 14Us defeated the Camillus Cougars 14Us 9-1. Meredith Kirk had a hat trick assisted by Hannah Golay, Marissa Ramos and Wilder. Jackie Cornell also had a hat trick; one was unassisted and the other two assisted by Marshall. Nitsan Goldstein, Lauren Herrick, and Marshall also scored. They lost to the Skaneateles Lakers 4-2. Wilder and Marshall scored for Ithaca and Pace made 21 saves.

The 13U Shooting Stars beat the Corning girls team 4-2. Marlena Doerr scored two goals and Grace Ulinski and Gwen Umbach each scored one. They were defeated by the Binghamton girls 5-0. Sophia Hunt and Alex Stagliano shared the goaltending duties.
